Brainspace Specialist Certification

The second of the three Brainspace certifications is the Specialist. I have spent the last couple of days, inbetween looking after my daughter and BBQ’ing in this amazing weather, going through the course content. Like the Analyst course before it the Specialist course is set into multi-topics with bite size videos and some presentations. Unlike the Analyst course there is no full practical element and not every module has an end of module quiz.

Specialist Course Menu

This course isn’t as long as the Analyst and the information is less general. Brainspace defines this course as:

The Brainspace Specialist Certification is designed for those individuals who are primarily responsible for the data ingestion process into Brainspace. This course will train users on how to manage Datasets, Users, Connectors and perform basic troubleshooting of the Brainspace environment. It is strongly recommended that you first obtain your Brainspace Analyst Certification.

I think there is definately a step up in expectations of the users understanding of Brainspace in both the course and the exam; the removal of some of the end of module quiz’s and removal of the practical part of the training is a testament to this. The content is good, as is the method of training. I have learnt a lot about the more detailed components of Brainspace, which will stand me in good stead going forwards.

Understanding how Brainspace connects with external platforms such as Relativity is very useful. It is also good to know that Brainspace works with Nuix and Venio. Getting to grips with how the connectors work and what you can do with them makes the utilisation of Brainspace more powerful. This is such an exceptional AI tool that it is almost a must have for use across the full EDRM.

The final part of the course is the 44 multiple choice question exam. The user has 30 minutes to answer 44 questions and is required to attain 80%.

I am please to confirm that I have now attained the Brainspace Specialist Certification.

One more to go!

Brainspace Specialist

A big thank you to Brainspace team for providing this course for free. It has certainly kept me busy and my mind ocupied away from being furloughed. I am looking forward to completing the Admin course over the next week, completing the hattrick of Brainspace courses.

The author

This blog is by James Merritt. For the last ten years I have worked in the Forensic Technology and eDisclosure sector. The views expressed on this website are those of my own and have no bearing on those of my employer. I have been debating whether or not to start this blog, whilst I have many years of experience, I don’t want to sound contrived and call myself an industry leader. However if what I decide to write about on this blog is considered interesting (and hopefully helpful) by those that read it, I have achieved what I set out to do, which is provide insight and advice. In my career I have been lucky enough to work on some incredible cases that have taken me all over the world. If you work in the industry then you know that big cases can be a life stealer, and I have worked on plenty of those. However, there is a certain degree of satisfaction on working with complex data and helping others understand it. I have worked with various litigation support tools over the last ten years but of late I specialise in Nuix and Relativity. This blog will be written with the industry in mind but only what I find interesting and on varying topics, from conferences to current developments, from products to training courses.
