This Sunday, I’m Walking 50km for Macmillan Cancer Support – Here’s Why It Matters to Me
On Sunday, I'll be taking on the North Yorkshire Challenge, a 50km walk in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. If you're able to spare a few pounds, I'd be incredibly grateful – you'll find the donation link at the bottom of this post.
But this isn't just about one walk.
It's part of a much bigger journey that's been quietly building throughout the year.
What 2026 Has Looked Like on Foot
Alongside work, family life, and everything else that comes with a busy year, I've been setting myself a series of walking challenges to stay active, focused, and motivated.
- 🏴 Virtual Land's End to John O'Groats – 583.2 miles completed so far, with 290.8 miles still to go.
- 🇫🇷 Escape to Provence Virtual Challenge – 100km completed in January.
- 🏃 Virtual London Marathon – 26.2 miles completed in April.
- 🇪🇸 Camino de Santiago Virtual Challenge – 220.8km completed so far, with a total distance of 600km.
- ☀️ Mindful Miles Summer Challenge – 300km starting in July.
And now comes the first major real-world challenge of the year:
50km Across North Yorkshire
This Sunday's walk is more than just another challenge. It's a chance to put the training, preparation, and miles already completed to the test.
It's also preparation for something even bigger.
The Main Event: 100km for Macmillan
In September, I'll be taking on the Thames Path Challenge – a 100km walk to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sunday's 50km event is effectively the dress rehearsal: testing the kit, testing the legs, and making sure I'm ready for what's ahead.
Why Macmillan?
Macmillan provides incredible support to people living with cancer and the families around them. Chances are cancer has touched your life in some way, whether directly or through someone you care about.
That's why I'm doing this.
If you'd like to support Macmillan and help motivate me through the miles ahead, I'd be hugely grateful for any donation, no matter how small.
Every pound genuinely makes a difference.
Thank you for your support. 🙏
